ABSTRACT

Key psychological concepts are presented in this chapter including Kaplan’s wayfinding cognition, Damasio’s understanding of consciousness, and the cognitive model used in cognitive therapies.Several arguments are made based on these concepts. Rossetti, her speakers, and her characters are often wayfinders who seek and share knowledge. Rossetti’s conscious sense of self is based on an embodied relationship to the world. Her writing allows her to simulate, evaluate, create, maintain, verify, and revise her self. It is therapeutic in this sense, but she also uses it to regulate her emotional life.
