ABSTRACT
This chapter provides an introduction to large engineering projects (LEPs) and managing risks in LEPs because a LEP contains a hierarchy of projects and systems. In particular, it discusses risks in LEPs, the LEP lifecycle and risks based on the non-availability of technology, since technology has become ubiquitous in the 21st century.
