ABSTRACT

This chapter introduces the reader to tobacco use in its different forms, its burden, and the role of a physician in tobacco cessation. It enlightens the reader on the increasingly important role of health care professionals in not only creating awareness against tobacco use but also in offering help toward quitting tobacco. The chapter also provides findings from the Global Adult Tobacco Survey and efforts toward the establishment of tobacco cessation centers.
