ABSTRACT

The parents had proudly saluted the combat soldiers and outstanding officers who went to battle in the three wars of the late ’60s and early ’70s. Most of the parents’ generation of the fighting family has passed on and lies buried alongside brothers-in-arms and comrades for life. The veterans had been proud of the children of their fellow fighters already half a century previously when the children had waged their battle against their teachers. They felt that the children of the fighting family were truly their continuation. Former Irgun and Lehi generals saw before them IDF generals who were children of the fighting family, far removed from politics but devoting their lives to military public service. A very high percentage of the Irgun and Lehi second generation fought in combat roles and climbed their way up the ranks.
