ABSTRACT

Chapter 4 explores the nature of interaction and interface between the Adivasis and Bengali migrants by taking note of their lived experiences. It draws on the range of empirical evidence gathered to provide an in-depth analysis concerning contemporary Adivasi experiences of marginalisation, deprivation, discrimination and subjugation in social, economic and cultural spheres. It critically examines the role of the state that has enabled the Bengali migrants to become economically prosperous and correspondingly this has led to the economic marginalisation of the native Adivasis.
