ABSTRACT

The authors of this book address the role of three key actors in a changing global order. The complexity of the problem of the roles of the EU, China and US in an evolving global order is reflected in the chapters of each author focusing on different actors and policy areas. As the introduction notes, this book offers no unified approach to its underlying subject, nor does it offer a unified analysis or model of the problems of an evolving global order and the role of the three actors. The diversity resulting from allowing the authors scope to approach the problem in an eclectic manner perhaps permits a reflection of the complexity of the triangle that exists between the EU, China and US. The conclusion provides an overview of the key findings of each author in their respective chapters. These findings reflect the perspectives from the viewpoint of the actors and the lens of the policy areas that they focus on as well as the differing analytical approaches they adopt. This chapter concludes with reflections on unifying themes drawing on the chapters of this book and possible future developments.
