ABSTRACT

This chapter surveys the life of Siyyid Mírzá ‘Alí-Muḥammad-i-Shírází, known to history as the Báb (meaning the Gate), and recognized by Bahá’ís as the founder of the Bábí religion, the forerunner of Bahá’u’lláh, and one of the twin founders of the Bahá’í Faith.
