ABSTRACT

The important thing about workstations is that students have to be accountable to the activities and games that they are engaging in. There should be recording sheets for almost everything that students do. Teachers should have several different systems for keeping track of what is happening in the workstations. The first really important system is that all students should have workstation folders that they keep at their desk or in a workstation folder area. It is important that students keep track of the work they have done in the workstation. Teachers should also keep anecdotal records of students’ work in workstations. The teacher needs to keep anecdotal on what is happening. Moreover, math workstations should be discussed when teachers are conferring with students about their math achievement. The teacher needs to analyze the data at various levels, from a global grade level perspective, to a class perspective, to a small group of students, to the individual student.
