ABSTRACT

The Agile Imperative is encapsulated in the recognition that the assumption of an economy or marketplace, typically in a state of equilibrium, is a myth that has devastating consequences. An important core concept to recognize is that Project Management Institute's effort to define standards means that the principle of hybrid Agile approaches is generally superior to the “either/or” approaches being sold in the marketplace by others as the only right solution. Scaling Agile in healthcare will mimic the power laws seen in biological scaling, but with the likelihood of a larger spread around the average because the enterprises are approximately scaled, similar versions of one another. The proven success of Lean principles, starting with the Toyota Production System, being extended into a host of other industries and services has brought marketplace demand to healthcare in new and continuously more challenging ways.
