ABSTRACT

It is not difficult to ask a Christian teacher to keep his religious and philosophical convictions out of the classroom, and to teach in such a way as to give no one grounds for accusing him of using his unique position to indoctrinate the young. Should a teacher working in religious education doff his religious commitment before setting foot in the classroom? Is it possible that he can? It is difficult to see how any teacher could do this for long, even as an earnest of professional competence, however conscientiously he may try.
