ABSTRACT

Readers will learn about the difference between an accommodation and a modification. In this chapter, accommodations are broken down into several areas that are commonly seen in children with anxiety, including those for attention, memory, language, cognitive inflexibility, task completion, perfectionism, emotional regulation, oversensitivity in the environment, overt problem behaviors, physical complaints, and test anxiety. Accommodations for specific subject areas are also provided. Teaching strategies and creative connection activities provide ways for students to develop flexibility and embrace imperfections in life.
