ABSTRACT

Many business people lack passion; they view their activities as a chore. Passion is the fuel which helps companies pursue their mission. Without passion, business objectives are less likely to be attained. There is no general agreement on an academic definition of the word “passion.” Passion represents a continuous heightened emotional state which drives people to follow their mission with tenacity. However, the emotional aspects are only a part of the passion equation. Passionate business people are also more prone to organise and utilise company resources in the most effective way to achieve the organisation’s purpose. Passionate people are more prone to frame any circumstance, including seemingly challenging ones, in a positive manner. Passionate people understand that oftentimes valuable opportunities lie within difficult circumstances. From the emotional perspective, passionate people enjoy pursuing their purpose, which is not considered “work,” but something fun and rewarding.
