ABSTRACT

Some define mentality or mindset as “mental perspective,” “thought processes,” “way to view the world,” “personal paradigm,” or “mental attitude.” Most psychologists observe that a person’s mindset is affected by three important elements: beliefs, values, and emotional states. A mindset is also related to emotions, which are states which people experience, like fear, anger, sadness, happiness, and others. In business, a positive mindset is the most important resource a company can count on. In the business environment, a scarcity mindset supports the existence of scarce resources. Business people with a scarcity mindset believe in the threatening power of other companies offering similar products or services, known as “competitors.” The concepts of “scarcity of resources” and “competition” are fundamental parts of the mindset predominant in most companies. Companies with a prevalent scarcity mindset tend to have a restricted perception of the business environment, which prevents them from discovering opportunities around them.
