ABSTRACT
This chapter establishes the authors of the text as critical literacy educators and community activists through narrative profiles of the contributors. It also establishes a context for the many and various programs that will be described in this book and used to illustrate principles of Culturally Sustaining Systemic Functional Linguistics (CS SFL). This chapter also provides a brief description of CS SFL upon which the book is built.
