ABSTRACT
An 82-year-old man was admitted to hospital with symptoms of cough and fever. He was diagnosed with an aspiration pneumonia secondary to impaired swallowing function. He was due to have a nasogastric tube sited the following day but will need intravenous fluid hydration overnight.
