ABSTRACT

A 24-year-old woman presented to the emergency department complaining of a 2-week history of blurred vision. Her symptoms had come on gradually, and had become progressively worse. She reported that the blurred vision was particularly prominent when she was watching the television at night. She had no other past medical history and took no regular medications. There was no significant family history. The patient worked as a lifeguard in a local leisure centre. She had never smoked, did not use any recreational drugs and consumed approximately 10 units of alcohol per week.
