ABSTRACT

Along with the advancement of science and technology, fuel-rich solid rocket propellants are under development, with continuously improved performance and varied formulations. For the long-term development of fuel-rich propellants, boron-based propellants with high performance remain a good choice, which is applied in most of the latest studies on solid rocket ramjets. The integral solid rocket–ramjet engine considered as the ideal propulsion system for supersonic aerodynamic missiles includes two stages, namely, booster rocket and ramjet. Fuel-rich propellants can satisfy the requirement of solid rocket ramjets for basic performance. For solid rocket ramjet propulsion, gaining random propulsion control is very much desired, which can realize randomly adjusting missile speed, maneuvering ability, flight trajectory, and range. The combustion efficiency of fuel-rich propellant compositions has always been an important issue in the application of fuel-rich propellants. The development of nanotechnology brings opportunities to solve some performance problems of fuel-rich propellants.
