ABSTRACT

Couple relationships are sources and vessels of great joys and painful trials across lifetimes. These partnerships are complex and dynamic entities. Each relationship is a lifecycle unto itself, writing its own story, and influenced by its socio-cultural contexts. Yet, amidst the intricacies of these relationships, commonalities of health and strength exist. As counselors-in-training, these participants shared with the author the great influences learning to be a counselor had on them, and how their relationships shifted as a result. n each case, participants held that while changes were challenging, their relationships were ultimately strengthened and enhanced by similar processes and experiences. When creating space to hold couples in reflection and inspire meaningful connection, it is difficult to find a more privileged place to work.
