ABSTRACT

The experts have completed the task on behalf of the men on the job. They return to the side-lines and leave it to those who work in transport to try to find, on the basis of the report, appropriate solutions of the problems which they encounter. The manifold problems of the pipelines—the branch of the transport industry of the future—a statement of our policy regarding tasks and organization of the forwarding trade and a number of detail questions have, to all intents and purposes, remained untouched. Concrete statements of opinion have furthermore been omitted wherever the competent trade union organizations have to find a common denominator for their policies. It is precisely in this field where difficulties will arise in many respects in the very near future when the framework of a common policy for newly-created extensive economic areas will have to be established, within the territory of a Free Trade Zone.
