ABSTRACT

In this introduction to the book Geopoetics in Practice, the four editors of the text engage in a dialogue on the themes of conceptualizing geopoetics, geopoetic methods and methodologies, and the book’s organization. They explore geopoetics as multivocal earth-making and as a creative and critical practice. The dialogue touches on concerns including the distinction between ecopoetics and geopoetics, the re-making of geopoetic lineages, decolonial geopoetics, situated feminist geopoetics, and the aesthetic diversity of geopoetic methodologies. By approaching this introduction as a dialogue, the editors draw on their own practices to present geopoetics as an ongoing route-finding endeavor. In doing so, the conversation suggests multiple approaches to engaging with the 24 chapters of the book.
