ABSTRACT

Patients’ lack of ownership in their health is the trademark of US healthcare. When people are sick, they go to the hospital; in the meantime, they do whatever they want, such as smoke, drink, and gain 200 lbs above the supposed healthy weight. Chronic diseases like diabetes, emphysema, and arthritis secondary to obesity can be cured by better educating the patients. Sharing views and decisions starts with compliant patients. The patient should also be held accountable for their mistakes, and their mistakes should be reported to their health insurance companies, based on which their claim would be approved or not. The medical field has depended on the trust placed by the patient on the physician to make the right decision. Alerts and alarms about side effects should be written in a way that can be shared with the patient.
