ABSTRACT

Much of the information is based on theories and models used by researchers to study the factors associated with healthy living. There are widely accepted theories and models of behavior change. Many adults want to make healthy lifestyle changes but find it difficult to incorporate them. To understand the factors that contribute to making this difficult, it is essential to understand the definition of a “lifestyle”. The Stages of Change is a model developed by Dr. James Prochaska that explains the processes people go through in changing their behaviors. It was initially designed to describe the stages people use to change negative behaviors such as smoking but has recently been extended to help explain stages of exercise behavior. A healthy person can repeat the movement for an extended period without undue fatigue. Strength varies from person to person because even though the people might have the same fit bodies, one person may be able to lift more than the other.
