ABSTRACT

This chapter addresses the difference between the meanings of “circle of support” and “circle of health support". The most important circle of support comes from family and friends who help in the patient’s experiences. The circle was developed to support individuals to become connected in the community and to make friendships and relationships. A map of people close to the patients is needed to define the support system and their circle. The circle is requested to make connections with other people. Circles of support in the workplace can be beneficial to ensure that the person is well supported to do their work independently. The new support building approach has proved to be a useful tool in assisting stakeholders in exploring health system changes in a patient-centric approach. The building is based on demonstrating improved outcomes and quality that will then enhance the patient experience.
