ABSTRACT
This chapter follows the critical reaction by mainstream archaeologists and anthropologists during the past 50 years to the Aquatic/Waterside ape theory proposed in Elaine Morgan’s books. It illustrates the response in the press following the symposium on the Aquatic Ape, organised by Sir David Attenborough in 1992 and following the international conference on human evolution in London in 2013.
