ABSTRACT

Of all hospital parts, the medical record unit is the most antique unit in the sense of having medical records of patients that span from the time the hospital was first established. Problems related to the seizing of medical record documents often occur between the medical record unit and other units, fighting over particular patients’ medical record documents because of the high value, especially in terms of finance. The most common waste for the medical record unit is the waiting time associated with processing time at the unit. A Lean implementation technique is run involving three units at once: the medical record unit, the inpatient unit, and medical secretaries. Steps taken by the Lean team in the context of medical records are to create standard letters and forms, redesign the layout, mark files in the library so that they can be easier and faster to find, and shorten the distance between employee desks and the printer.
