ABSTRACT

The clinical pathology unit is more or less the same as the radiology department because it relies on the laboratory and methods such as molecular microbiology. This is where the samples are examined to determine the patient’s disease. Lean implementation in clinical pathology units has been done many times. A study by Persoon and others in a clinical pathology unit focuses on the problem of turnaround time that occurred in this lab, especially in chemical tests. The customers complain that the turnaround time is too long and therefore needs to be shortened. During this time, the complaints are dealt with in an accelerated process. The problem is the acceleration of the test will result in further chaos because there will be more processes and pathways that complicate the problems. Lean steps are used to solve this problem.
