ABSTRACT

This chapter provides a summary of the book and discusses directions for further research. This book revealed three important results: (1) the causal mechanism of the ethnic median voters; (2) the significance of the counteractant or third party in party competition; and (3) the relationship between party system type, the mainstream parties’ strategies, and the political regime. Besides the contributions of the book, two limitations of the research were highlighted: the specificity of the results to the case and the limitations of the predicted evidence used. This chapter also suggests three issues for further research: (1) to focus on the intricate relationship between party system institutionalization, party system type, and political regime, (2) to introduce a new typology for ethno-territorial party, and (3) to analyze the second Kurdish opening process from party competition dynamics perspective.
