ABSTRACT

The change from functioning as a producer or critic of world views to the function as a productive force means of course that science shifts its position in the structure of basis and superstructure. Reproduction of society means to an increasing degree reproduction of appropriated nature and of the self-appropriation of society. The production of data and programs is socially immediately productive, because it serves as such to reproduce the knowledge-structure of society. The superstructure of society is so immense that the greater part of the overall social activity is not production but reproduction. The change from functioning as a producer or critic of world views to the function as a productive force means of course that science shifts its position in the structure of basis and superstructure. The material appropriation of nature means that nature as a whole is gradually transformed into a human product by superimposing to her a new, social structure.
