ABSTRACT

Cabbage and cauliflower, a part of the large group of cole crops, are grown worldwide, and are important fresh market and processing crops depending on varied head shapes and sizes, different leaf colors and forms. Areas of cabbage production range from near the Arctic Circle to the Equator, even though it is a cool-season crop. Cabbage and cauliflower production can be very versatile. Cabbage and cauliflower plants deficient in N have a uniform yellowish color, with the leaves closest to the roots being lighter in color than younger ones near the top of the plant. Cabbage and cauliflower will show the typical Mn deficiency interveinal chlorosis, with dark green main veins of youngest leaves, but unlike Mg deficiency, Mn chlorosis extends into the leaf margins. Nutritional sprays can be applied to both cabbage and cauliflower but a spreader sticker must be used otherwise the liquid will just roll off the plants.
