ABSTRACT

Comite Organizativo Permanente De Partidos Politicos DE America Latina (COPPPAL) manifests its deep concern for the continuing deterioration of the political, economic, and social situation in Central America and the Caribbean. COPPPAL reaffirms its conviction that the crisis has its origin in economic structures of power which have generated serious social upheavals. COPPPAL manifests its support of the agreements of the Conference concerned with peace, human rights and self-determination of the Salvadoran people, organized by the Latin American Human Rights Association which took place in Lima, Peru, on the 19th and 20th of January. COPPPAL considers that despite the political instability of the region and the crisis of the world economy, despite the persistent and increasing threats of intervention and actions of destabilization and isolation perpetrated against Nicaragua, the popular Sandinist revolution has maintained its essential principles of non-alignment and political pluralism.
