In the United States, one can travel a great distance and experience great economic and other contrasts by going from one coast to the other. must understand that Europeans look at problems from the point of view of people who are disenchanted with what they have, yet who are not yet convinced that the new perspectives that they are trying to shape will come about. James Schlesinger said that the feeling in the United States is that the Europeans are a good people. Faith in the role of the state in economic intervention is no longer strong.
