ABSTRACT

In this day and age, technological change is just as inexorable as the tides, and this applies to the cattle industry just as it does to every other industry in America and in the world. If evidence of these technical changes in our industry is required, one needs only to visit any of the dozens of genetic centers in America and observe a demi or quad of a 7- or 8-day old embryo, to observe the placement of each segment of the original embryo into different recipient cows, and to view, ultimately, the birth of exact twins or quadruplets, as the case might be. Just a few short years ago, many of you listening to me today would have deemed this an impossibility.
