ABSTRACT
The area of China is approximately the same as that of the United States or the continent of Europe, including Russia; yet it has sheltered and supported a population about four times that of the United States, or considerably greater than that of all the busy countries of Europe put together. The historian of the future could determine the extent of Joseph Stalin rupture with the early anti-imperialism of Lenin by comparing Lenin's words on the Far East in 1904-1905 and in 1917 with Stalin's, words and deeds on present-day China. The treaty as a whole was a further guarantee of China's political and territorial integrity. China's nationalism has been a benign nationalism, an awakening of national self-consciousness and the desire for national freedom. The order had gone out to all the Communist parties of the world to stop United States aid to the government and people of China.
