ABSTRACT

The United States-U.S.S.R. Joint Working Group in the Application of Computers to Management was established in 1972 as one of the six initial programs of exchange under the Science and Technology Agreement. The project on computer analysis applied to the economics of large systems was reorganized in 1976 to reflect more strongly energy, transportation and agribusiness applications to planning and management. The project on the use of computers in decision-making and education of high level executives was proposed in 1973, but the work program was not completely formulated until 1975 after an exchange of organizational visits. The heart of the activity under the computer applications working group was the project meeting, supplemented by seminars and associated visits for two week periods, month-long visits for joint work, and brief visits and meetings for intensive project work, coordination, and exchange of information and review of developments.
