ABSTRACT

The constitutional government should make raising the level of welfare a priority. The fall in real wages, unemployment, the isolation and worsening of social conditions in the interior, has created tensions that will break out into the open democratic rule has been re-established. So, the problem the new government has to solve is: how to boost the economy, while keeping down inflation and meeting its international payment commitments. The economy cannot function with the present rates of inflation. The constitutional government will never succeed unless it considers the foreign-debt problem in the terms. The economic situation inherited by the constitutional government is unprecedented in Argentine, or indeed world history. The Labour Government in Australia is relying on an economic and social pact. The central government would provide up-to-date information on the performance of the economy and on the application of its policies, in order to allow for any necessary adjustments.
