ABSTRACT
With the entire territory of Canton under his control, Kai-shek began to see the prospect before him of all of China being united. This was the most grandiose of his dreams. Once united, China would become one of the most powerful nations in the world. At the same time, he would become China's sole leader. This was his ardent wish. The people of China were sick and tired of the oppression of the warlords. They yearned for a united China, and they therefore rallied behind Kai-shek. I, for one, knew he would succeed and prayed hard and earnestly to the Great Buddha to bless and watch over him.
