ABSTRACT
Charlie intends to leave Asia and return to the United States when Assistant Paymaster Van Patten departs to sea. While Charlie awaits transport home in Manila, Van Patten visits him and introduces Assistant Paymaster P.T.M. Lathrop, who needs a pay clerk when he goes to sea in USS Chattanooga.
