ABSTRACT
The Israeli authorities allege that they were 'organizers' of a resistance movement against Israeli rule, that they belonged to a terrorist organization and that they personally participated in attacks against Israeli army patrols, using stones and Molotov cocktails. Hala Irekat Aburish and Ali are both schoolteachers who lead a quiet life and although they are hardly activists themselves, it is reasonable to assume that they grew up with strong anti-Israeli feelings and that these feelings were transmitted to their children. The judge's chair in the centre has a lectern in front of it, while the Israeli flag and emblems of the Israeli army and the civil administration of the occupied territories act as a backdrop. The Israelis invoke a law protecting informers and most of the time the witnesses are in the pay of the Israeli security forces. The embrace between father and son is tantamount to a challenge to Israeli authority.
