ABSTRACT

Outdoor recreation and natural resource agencies, particularly those in urban and wildland-urban interface areas, are experiencing rapid diversification of their constituency reflecting the cultural and demographic trends of the United States. World view deals with a culture's perceptual orientation toward the relationship between humans and the natural world. Every group differs in its world view; the set of beliefs and values that it attaches to nature. World view is considered by many to represent the most important foundation of a culture. "A culture's concept of time is its philosophy toward the past, present, and future, and the importance, or lack of importance, it places on time". Time orientation plays an important role in leisure experience and activities. It should be noted that any cultural classification is, at best, an over-simplified view of a complex social system. Although some cultures are quite homogeneous, all contain some internal variation and contradiction.
