ABSTRACT
As a proponent of total glasnost', A. A. Melnikov (as with Zagaynov before him) demanded publication of the text of Yeltsin's speech at the Central Committee October 1987 plenum as well as the official standings of Soviet leaders on various issues. Melnikov also referred to the "unpleasant taste" left in his mouth by the process of nomination and election of delegates to the conference.
