ABSTRACT
The last reverberation of Gorbachev's attack against the conservatives was the 3 October session of the RSFSR Supreme Soviet, which called for the removal of RSFSR Premier Vorotnikov (electing him to the purely representative post of chairman of the RSFSR Supreme Soviet Presidium) and appointed Gorbachev's ally Aleksandr Vlasov in Vorotnikov's place.
