ABSTRACT

The rapid growth in the Japanese economy, coupled with significant shifts in the structure of trade and industry and substantial innovations in processes and products, has led, in the field of capital goods and industrial supplies as in other product areas, to such a high quantitative and qualitative level of development in domestic production that sales opportunities for foreign manufacturers in this market have naturally become limited A disadvantage of working with trading firms-not only Japanese, but also German and others-commonly complained of by manufacturers is that such trading firms represent so many manufacturers that they lack the opportunity to give the necessary attention to marketing the complainants' own particular products. The overall market for chemical products divides into two parts according to the nature of the products and the type of customer. On one side are basic and intermediate products; on the other are end products. This second part of the market includes agrochemicals and synthetic materials.
