ABSTRACT

This chapter seeks to provide answers to the nature of occupational mobility within the city and the nature and extent of secondary employment. Aside from a description of the occupational patterns among the cities, it explains about pre-move employment information and the sources of the information as well as other details surrounding the search process. Job opportunities in Repelita IV are expected to increase by 2.7 percent per year while the numbers of those seeking employment is expected to increase by 3.1 percent per year. The annual employment level is projected to increase by about 2.9 to 3.3 percent for the period 1984–1987. For the Indonesian cities the most common occupational types are traders, temporary workers, trades/personal service, and private sector employment. In contrast to the Indonesian cities, there were in Cebu and Cagayan additional migrant heads who were enumerated as professionals and military personnel.
