ABSTRACT

Women's concerns will be considered at the various stages of the technology development process including design, dissemination, and extension. The following women's concerns are to be integrated within the farming systems project: analysis of women's productive activities within the farming systems, including their roles in the household and in management; and application of this understanding throughout the farming systems research process. Except for the fertilizer rates and variety trials, the rest of the trials failed because of the uncertainty in the water release by the National Irrigation Administration during the first crop. Women's access to improved household technology enhances their productivity. The crop-livestock project in Santa Barbara, Pangasinan began in 1984 as a collaborative project between the Institute of Animal Science, University of the Philippines in Los Banos, the Ministry of Agriculture and Food, and the Rice Farming Systems and the Agricultural Economics of the International Rice Research Institute.
