The chapter describes the performance of the manufacturing groups during the recovery. The objective is to use the new information available to evaluate to what extent these groups were affected. The chapter provides an additional information regarding the role of the manufacturing sector during the recovery. It also analyzes aggregate indicators of employment and industrial output in order to have an overall view of the performance of the industrial sector after the 1982 crisis. The objective is to show that after the 1982 crisis, the industrial sector played an even more important role than it played in the recovery after the 1975 recession. The recovery of industrial production was accompanied by an increase in the capacity of the sector to create employment.
