ABSTRACT
It is often necessary to collect biographical information on anthropologists. Biographical information about noteworthy anthropologists may appear as separately published books, as articles in periodicals, or as entries in biographical dictionaries and directories. The amount of biographical information needed, a book-length study or a brief summary, will determine the best approach to take. Below are given some or the major general reference works which provide biographical information, as well as indexes which provide access to them and other biographical sources. For additional biographical information, consult the library catalog under the appropriate subject with the subdivision Biography or Bio-Bibliography. Biographical information on people from various professions and geographic areas, bom before 1920, who have contributed to the development of anthropology.
