ABSTRACT

Bibliographies are very useful because someone has already done some searching and has complied the information. Sometimes an entire book may be a bibliography, compiled by an individual or some larger group or organization. There are many specialized subject bibliographies of potential interest to anthropologists. These are located throughout the holdings of a library collection as well as in the reference area. This chapter covers subject bibliographies in anthropology. As the name implies, these are restricted to one subject, but usually not restricted to one form or one language. They may be retrospective or current, comprehensive or selective. Includes over 3,000 bibliographies in books, articles, filmographies, and discographies, with an emphasis on recent publications. Emphasizes current research and updates earlier guides to anthropological bibliographies for Africa, Asia, the Americas, and the Soviet Union.
