ABSTRACT

Marxism-Leninism emphasizes industrialization, urbanization, collectivism, top-down rule, and frontal assaults and "storming". Nicolae Ceausescu is committed to the process of urbanization because it is a necessary corollary of industrialization. The Ceausescu goal is to make Romania one of the major producers of steel, iron, heavy machinery, rolling stock, and other elements of heavy industry. Political and organizational collectivism permeates all of society and sets the stage for the processes that lead to political decisions and, consequently, the nature and quality of individuals' lives on a daily basis. Collectivism is taught in the schools, in the workplace, in the controlled media, in political and social discourse of all kinds. In any case, Nicolae Ceausescu is only a partial Marxist on the dimension of collectivism. Top-down rule was a natural consequence of the actual conditions in Russia and also of Leninism as a theoretical construct.
