ABSTRACT

In this chapter, the author observes the facilitator 2-client 2 (F2-C2) dyad on two occasions. The first observation session took place one year and nine months after this pair began facilitating together. The other session took place four months later. An additional session had been scheduled; the client was ill on that occasion as a result of complications stemming from surgery for the removal of foreign objects he had ingested. The author considers the level of experience for this dyad to be more than adequate, since F2 and C2 had reportedly facilitated on a daily basis in early stages of their work together. Although the F2-C2 dyad shared some similarities with the facilitator 1-client 1 dyad, there were marked differences as well. One of the more perplexing facilitated communication experiences with this client was his perceived knee-jerk reaction to typing as soon as manual support was rendered.
