ABSTRACT

Infertility among domestic animals is one of the great economic problems in animal production, and its incidence is increasing with the intensive livestock husbandry. Solving the infertility problem is a challenging task for the veterinarian. For the treatment of animal infertility, there are several methods. But the Chinese traditional acupuncture has its unique effects and is worth trying. Affected animals appear emaciated and dull; the skin loses its elasticity and the body is covered with a rough hair coat. The animal shows a kind of rhythmic muscular fibrillation around the acupuncture points. By the time the frequency is about 80 Hz/sec to 129 Hz/sec, the handle of the needle will exhibit a slight movement. Acupuncture brings new light to an old problem-infertility. It possesses many advantages, i.e., the method is relatively simple, no expensive equipment is needed, and the effect is satisfactory. The animal shows a kind of rhythmic muscular fibrillation around the acupuncture points.
